Dr. Stone Volume 3

Synopsis

The central trio (Senku, Taiju, and Yuzuriha) separate for the time being to fool Tsukasa into believing Senku is dead. Senku decides to follow the smoke signals to find other survivors to bring over to his cause for a new scientific society. He eventually runs into Kohaku, who takes him to her village. A plethora of new and skeptical characters are introduced that open new plots to the story. Science becomes the new sorcery, but will it be enough to convince the villagers to take in Senku and allow him to create his science utopia?

Review and Recommendation

Volume 3 of Dr. Stone is by far my favorite entry. The themes and characters are lighter, and the tone is overall hilarious. Several new characters are introduced in the volume. The author does an excellent job of inserting characters into the story without disrupting the flow of the novel and slowing down the pacing. One of my favorite characters to come from this volume is Chrome. Chrome is a kindred spirit of Senku that shows wide-eyed wonderment in everything that Senku introduces to him. The main point of this volume is Senku trying to figure out a way to convince the villagers to accept him, and he uses “science bait” to lure them over to his side. I don’t have any spoilers for this volume. I also don’t want to give away too many details because it was just such an enjoyable novel. I couldn’t put this volume down, and immediately after I finished Volume 3, I went right to Volume 4. There’s no hidden innuendo or inappropriateness in Volume 3. Even if you’re not interested in science, this story is still very engaging and entertaining. I highly recommend reading Volume 3 of Dr. Stone.
