Spy x Family Volume 3

Synopsis

Despite a very awkward first encounter with Yor’s brother Yuri, the Forgers are still going strong. Anya continues her mission to gain Stella Stars and attempt to befriend Damian. At the same time, Yor tries to be the perfect fake wife and mother despite her terrible cooking skills and unusual athletic training with Anya. What more could the most perfect phony family need? Find out in volume 3 of Spy x Family.

Review and Recommendation

Spy x Family continues to surprise and entertain me. It still balances comedy with espionage and mystery in an organized and exciting style. The introduction of Yuri, Yor’s SSS brother, increased the tension in the most engaging way that kept me thinking about how in the world this mission was going to work out and who exactly would be the one to reveal themselves first and get everyone caught. Also, amid this apprehensive mission, there is the most adorable dynamic between Anya and Damian. This series has everything I look for in a book, and I can’t wait to read more of Spy x Family.

Cautions

*Spoiler Alert* (A spoiler alert is being issued because there are mentions of specific plot points that relate to the rating of this review.)

The same cautions continue in Volume 3 of Spy x Family. Again, this series is more suited for an older audience based on the realistic violence. There is still a Parental Advisory note at the back of the book, as with the other books in the series. I noted some language in volume 3 and a scene depicting Yuri excessively drinking and becoming aggressive and somewhat violent towards Loid.
